Kandi Steiner's Old Fashioned: A Finale With A Bitterly Shocking Twist!

You are not ready for this roller-coaster ride!

The awesome Becker Brothers series has come to end. When I read an ARC of the first book, On The Rocks, I never would have imagined how the saga would close. With more pain, courage, and honest heartache than I've read in a while. I was sad. I was proud. I was full of joy. Old Fashioned is a beautiful love story of two people, seeped in struggle, who are brought together despite the complicated circumstances of their lives.

Sounds normal? Yeah, no.

Our heroine, Sydney, is a newly single mom recovering from a nasty divorce who is trying to build a career in a male-dominated industry. Football. She does a magnificent job of gracefully working through the doubts, the sexism, and the frustrations that come with the job as the high school team's athletic trainer. Not only does she prove it all wrong, she endures every one of the criticisms from her boss, Jordan Becker. The football coach.

The love interest...I did say it was complicated, right?

Jordan has his own problems that stem down to his DNA. He's a tough nut. Stoic, focused, and steadfast. Until Sydney walks into his locker room. She doesn't need a nutcracker to break through his defenses. They start to fall at the sight of her, whether he realizes it or not.

Their romance doesn't grow like a weed, it simmers like a well-cooked chili. The flavors don't burst out all at once but reveal themselves, and get stronger, the longer they sit on the fire. Watching it all unfold was like identifying the ingredients of something wonderful.

This story, triggered my anxiety! I told Kandi this. The whole book is a slow burn of emotions. Be patient! To quote Kandi herself, "The last 25% I had my heart in my throat". The climax is a doozy, but oh so worth it!

There is triumph. There is heart. There is a plot twist the likes of which you will not see coming. And when you get through all of that, there's a finale that feels hard-earned and will yank on your heartstrings.

Be ready for a wild ride but just remember that the savory final bite will come (I mixed up my metaphors--JUST read the book, y'all.)

About Kandi:

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best

known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters

to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner

books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in

Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started

writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade,

she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually,

the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried

fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after

college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her

extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live

music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.
